Thank you to all those whom attended Saturday night’s moonlit walk and wine tasting!
The crowd was a great mix of current ski club members, those who attended the event last March, and many newcomers. As guests arrived at the lodge, they were greeted by the fine sounds of the live entertainment up until departing on the walk/hike.
Lost Acres vineyard owner Kevin Riggot joined one of the groups for the moonlit walk, guided by members of our own ski patrol. After everyone returned and settled in, Kevin spoke briefly about the vineyard and introduced the first wine. He joined in and personally poured for guests, occasionally stopping to introduce the next wine. By the time the last wine was tasted, he had interacted with most of the guests. The band took to their places, playing throughout the remainder of the evening, and even had some of the crowd dancing. They stopped only briefly to allow for the drawing of raffle tickets. Ten lucky guests took home the great raffle prizes that were available.
We all received an extra special treat in the form of a moonbow, also referred to as a lunar rainbow. It is a rainbow formed by moonlight instead of sunlight and is a fairly rare occurrence. From our location at the mountain, away from the city lights, rings of two different sizes were clearly visible around the moon against the clear night sky. Many of the guests were out on the deck to witness the event.
By evenings end, Kevin commented on how pleased he was with the tasting and how much he appreciated being part of it. He had a wonderful time, enjoying the surroundings and the guests whom attended.
